Catherine is my sister’s best friend, going back to 8th or 9th grade. I’ve been harassing her half of that time to shoot some photos, so I was completely elated when she gave the go ahead. She’s giving some of these to her mom for mother’s day, which I thought was a great reason to do this. Turns out a lot of the people I meet just don’t have descent pictures of themselves, and hiring someone to take their portrait sometimes feels odd or vain. It’s not. I think it’s a special and important thing to have natural, beautiful images of yourself throughout life. These aren’t glamour shots. I don’t shoot that way. It’s literally her, in a location we found while driving around the outskirts, and killer light. Once you’ve decided that it’s time, the rest falls together without fuss.

I have to say, offering an engagement session with every wedding makes us all a little more comfortable on the big day. I can’t wait to see these two again in the fall.

The light was amazing and things were green (shock), but it was perfectly simple. When you’re in love and you’re about to get married it doesn’t take more than authentic happiness to bring a photo to life. So you know, I absolutely love photographing families. It’s been far too long since I’ve had the chance. The Zarembas were here from all over (Florida, Pennsylvania) to visit their new and amazing chubby-cheeked family addition, Lane. Since being together in the same place doesn’t happen often they called me last week to to set up a shoot. So glad they did. They are exactly as happy and fun as they look and it was fun to do something different. Thank you, thank you Zarembas.
